INTER-ACTIVE BAND SCOPE MK4
Click PICTURE for earlier MK1 YouTube Video (select full screen)
1.  PASS FREQUENCY HANDLING
The SCOPE has its own method of handling PASS frequencies, independent of that used by the AR-DV1
This is an important addition. During Scope sweeps there will often be constant transmission which the User will want to be ignored, however they would not wish those to be stored by the DV1 itself, particularly because the Radio's own handling of removing individual PASS frequencies is quote complicated and not 100% reliable.
The method used by the SCOPE is 100% reliable, as is the addition and removal of any of its PASS options, which are all Menu controlled and single 'click' operations.
2.  PAUSE OPTIONS
During a 'sweep' the User may select any of the options shown above. If 'NO PAUSE' is chosen the sweep is continuous. The other options will select how long the sweep pauses when an active frequency is found.
3.  STEP OPTIONS
User selectable from drop down Menu.
4. 1, 2, 4, 10 MHZ BUTTONS
These select the margins of the sweep. For SSB signals, a 0.5 MHZ sweep is available.
5. CENTRE FREQUENCY BUTTON
Clicking this button enables the User to select the CENTRE frequency that the sweep adopts.
The LOW and HIGH buttons initially show the frequency limits of the sweep. Clicking them allows the User to enter different values providing they are within the scope of the CENTRE frequency and MHZ options selected.
The '+' and '-' buttons micro adjust the received frequency, if required for a HF side band signal.
6. AM OPTIONS
User selectable at any time, including when a sweep is in progress, plus 'CW' mode.
7. FM OPTIONS
Selectable between FMN (narrow)'  FMW (wide)  and Tetra T-TC at any time, including when a sweep is in progress.
8. 'T' BUTTON
If selected, ''GHOST FREQUENCIES'' lines (grey) remain on screen when sweeps re-commence. If NOT selected the all lines are reset for each sweep. This is in fact a much 'neater' option than a waterfall, and much more functional.
During a sweep, an 'ACTIVE FREQUENCY' line shows a blue colour.
9. 'QUICK RECORD' BUTTON
If the sweep is PAUSED on an active signal, this button allows instant audio recording of its audio content to the SD card.
10. 'S LEVEL THRESHOLD' BUTTON
Select an 'S' level. Only ACTIVE frequencies relating to that level are reacted to.
11. 'Q' BUTTON
Right click over a sweep line brings up an inter-active 'Q' window, enters its details and displays any other frequencies that have been manually selected.
Right click activates 'AUTO Q'. A 'Q' window is shown and every time an active frequency is found its details appear.
All 'Q' windows are inter-active because clicking on any line transfers the details to the AR-DV1 for instant monitoring. The perfect way to find and auto-store active frequencies within the range of your DV1.
The window is also 'intelligent'. Only one line ever appears per frequency,  duplicates are not repeated. The line shows the date and time the frequency was last found, AND a 'HIT' counter indicating how many times it was active.

CLICK LINE TO TRANSFER TO AR-DV1             CREATE - SAVE - RESTORE  SCOPE SWEEPS                 CLICK LINE TO SELECT AND START SWEEP

12. BAND SCOPE TOTAL INTERACTION
Due to the superb interactivity offered by the Band Scope, in addition of the 'Q' options above. details of any line representing a frequency that is either ACTIVE (blue), or previously found GHOST (grey) can be instantly transferred to the AR-DV1.
When a sweep is in progress, hold the cursor over a line (turns to a 'cross') and click the mouse., (the sweep pauses) and the frequency is immediately sent to the AR-DV1.
If the sweep has been paused, slowly moving the cursor over any line selects and transfers its details to the Receiver instantly. TOTAL INTER-ACTIVE frequency control.
Such a selected line turns red in colour. If selected from a 'Q' window the appropriate line also turns red..
For HF side band monitoring there is a further interactive feature. Such signals, unlike FM or AM ones will vary constantly in their 'S' criteria.
If the 'S LEVEL THRESHOLD' and 'squelch' are set to minimum, all lines will appear, and naturally vary in height. If the full sweep is 'paused', dragging the cursor slowly along lines for the whole width of the sweep transfers the frequencies over which it passes to the AR-DV1 for instant monitoring. In reality this also provides rapid tuning in any position or direction.
This method can be applied to other Modes, but is especially useful when trying to find HF CW, LSB or USB signals. Right clicking on any line sends its details to an inter-active 'Q' window for easy and instant recall. The user can clear the whole 'Q' window at any time, or select and remove particular lines. Manual and Auto 'Q' windows are automatically saved during these processes.
HF EXAMPLE - 'LOW' and 'HIGH' buttons used to reduce 'sweep' from 7.1 to 7.3 MHZ
1.00k channel spacing, sufficient for CW and Side Band detection and monitoring.
Cursor moved over sweep lines immediately transferring frequency details to AR-DV1 and Main screen.
RED line and 'CROSS' cursor indicate frequency line selected.
The WIDTH of a sweep line is automatically calculated and varies accordingly.
---------------------------------------
eSPYonARD was the first program to offer a Band Scope which has been an available extra Function since February 2018..
It took months to complete, and required a lot of work. Many methods were tried, and eventually rejected because they could not offer a sufficient a degree of inter-activity to the User.
Methods that employed the AR-DV1's designated SEARCH function were a little faster at displaying lines in a sweep, They were eventually rejected for several very good reasons. as many of the essential inter-active functions were not possible.
It was also important that the Band Scope ran alongside, and updated the main Program, i.e. did not require the closing of one before the other could be run, so the Program's other Functions could be accessed quickly when required. Both the Main program and the Band Scope can be minimised and either continue to work in the background.
Displaying a pictorial representation is one thing, even with limited inter-activity, however eSPYonARD's Band Scope is quite another entity.  Its degree of inter-activity and functionality is unparalleled and tremendously enhanced by the  integration of 'Q' which is unique in the way it performs and unique to eSPYonARD and the AR-DV1.

What one can 'do' with the information displayed by a Band Scope is often far more important than the speed or manner of its sweep display.
Incorporating 'Q' allows the User to quickly and automatically create frequency lists when using the Band Scope,
allowing the discovery, storing, and instant retrieval of frequencies active in the vicinity of the Radio. The versatility of such 'Q' files when used with the Program's 'Q-DB' almost defies the imagination.
FULL instructions and information regarding the Band Scope are included in the Program's Manual.
THE MAGIC OF 'Q'                                           '
No other RADIO / SCANNER program has 'Q' - or anything to rival it

With 'Q' it is just a matter of finding a frequency list, 'HIGHLIGHT the text you want, 'COPY' and then 'PASTE' that DIRECTLY into the 'Q' window, no intermediate steps required, ready for sorting and instant monitoring.
'Q' even works on the example below - copied and pasted directly into 'Q'

Look at how diverse the lines below are worded

Frequencies in different positions and content - Modes in different locations etc

and within seconds 'Q' sorted,  identified relevant data and produced this inter-active list:-
Just click on a line to send the details immediately to the AR-DV1 for monitoring, and lots of other 'Q' functions , Storing, Filtering, Scanning, adding default Modes if needed, Google Maps and more

COPIED and PASTED into 'Q' window as it appears above, In seconds 'Q' sorted through the list, and produced this, just mouse clicks needed to send frequencies to the AR-DV1 or Scan them:-

The original Ofcom list contains many hundreds of entries

Quite a difference from the jumbled details in the original. Imagine how long it would have taken to physically sort through hundreds and either enter them manually to the DV1's own memories, or into something like Excel

Q handles all that - quickly and automatically

The details are auto-saved as a simple text file, which can be re-imported at any time

You can edit or change the TAG 'Q' produced quickly from within the Program

Clicking on any line sends the frequency information to the AR-DV1

for immediate monitoring

'Q' can auto-create inter-active lists of active frequencies that are found during a dedicated AR-DV1 'SEARCH' or when using the Band Scope

The 'Q-DB' frequencies can be manipulated in many ways. CTC/DCS information added, frequencies scanned, or filtered by keywords, PASS options, default Modes selected and more. The lines can include any Modes handled by the DV1, and use them to monitor. It does not matter if different Modes appear in individual lines

'Q' also lets you clear / change / amend any line from within the window, and saves the whole file automatically as you do it.

'Q' auto-sorts information into frequency order, and removes extraneous matter.

'Q' will also remove duplicate entries in lists you may have found, automatically as it sorts them.

A few words about the Radio Reference Database, and only using that to try to discover frequencies. The RR Database is great, and a real achievement, however it is only as good as its entries for your particular area. In certain Cities, in certain Countries it can be very useful, for a lot of others the information is either very sparse, or non existent. No criticism intended, a world wide, fully comprehensive database is not really possible.

'Q' is entirely different. Whether you find frequency lists on the NET, other electronic sources, or type them yourself in Notepad, you can usually import them and have them available to your AR-DV1 to use with the minimum of effort, and very quickly. Just 'copy', 'paste' into the 'Q' window, and click SORT. No need to be a Spreadsheet expert.

One other great advantage is 'Q' (.txt) files can be named and stored wherever you wish. Because they take up such little space you can store thousands of them if you wish. Effectively thousands of 'Q Memories' for your DV1. The number of 'Q-Memory' files is only limited by the size of your hard disk.

Having thousands of 'Memories' available usually brings its own very real headaches. What are they named, where do I find them etc? Using 'Q', and applying just a little bit of logic / discipline, you can create sub-folders and files with the names and locations you want, making them so much easier to find, use and also store copies of (for backup purposes). Importing a 'Q' file takes a few seconds, after which you can do so much with it, usually with just a few mouse clicks.

The operation of 'Q' in such a simple interface as described is quite simply accurate and true. 'Q' raises the DV1 to another level, and then some.

WHAT'S NEW in eSPYonARD
v. (6.0007-025) - 1st January 2021
1.  'Q' SORT - Fixed an error  introduced in last update. Speed increased

2.  BAND SCOPE 'IFBW' SELECTION
If a new IF Bandwidth is selected it is now remembered for each subsequent 'SWEEP'

3.  BAND SCOPE 'AUTO CURSOR' MOVEMENT
When a SWEEP has been 'paused', moving the Cursor over any line sends the information to the Program's screen and AR-DV1. An integral part of the SCOPE's abilities however it did mean that depending on the position of other windows the User had to be very careful when the Cursor might cross the Scope's frequency lines, and avoid them.
To MINIMISE that inconvenience I have introduced automatic cursor movement for certain functions.
  a. When the 'Q' or 'QL' buttons are clicked on the main Scope window, not only does the 'Q' window open but the cursor automatically jumps to their position, bypassing the main Scope. The same occurs when selecting the 'FAST'  window.
  b. If the User wishes the Cursor to automatically jump to the BAND SCOPE, bypassing the Frequency lines, this can be achieved by double clicking the following windows, 'Q', 'FAST', or the new 'SDR INTERFACE', in the top right hand corner (avoiding the 'minimise' or 'close' buttons).
If the SCOPE is visible, double clicking in this position on the 'MAIN' screen, OR on the 'SCOPE'
window, will force the Cursor to jump to the bottom of the SCOPE, avoiding the Frequency lines.

4.  BAND SCOPE 'Q SDR INTERFACE'
Clicking this button opens the NEW 'SDR INTERFACE' window
This compliments  existing button operations and adds extra functions when wishing to switch between the AR-DV1 and SDR (Computers) AUDIO sources.
Clicking the 'Displayed Frequency to 'Q' List' opens the 'Q' window and transfers the active Frequency details to its List.
If the User has 'copied' a Frequency from an SDR Brower page, clicking  'Paste Frequency from WEB/SDR'  transfers it to the Program.
The other functions are self explanatory. By default this AUTO function is 'ON' however it can be deactivated in the Settings window (opened by right clicking the Yellow area of the MAIN screen), via the   button. If the Computers AUDIO has been muted in the Program, when eSPYonARD closes normal audio is resumed.

5.  BAND SCOPE 'Q' WINDOW FONT SIZE
Added a SLIDER on the left of the Scope 'Q' window. This can be used to vary the Font size

6.  BAND SCOPE TIMER SLIDER
Moved to RIGHT hand side of Scope

7.  MISCELLANEOUS
Minor 'fixes' and improvements re. 'Q SEARCH', and 'M-BANK' functions

v. (6.0007-024) - 6th September 2020

1.  NEW SHUTDOWN PROCEDURE

Fixes an issue where some AR-DV1's very occasionally do not remember all Frequency Data when switched off - PLUS minor tweaks that improve performance in certain areas

v. (6.0007-023) - 22nd July 2020

1.  AR-DV1 MEMORIES - PROGRAM HANDLING

There can be issues when displaying the contents of a Memory Bank if the FIRST Memory does not contain an entry. The Program now checks the first entry of any selected Memory Bank and if '00'  is 'empty' a frequency is automatically added, with the Tag 'INIT'. You may overwrite this Frequency using MBANK. It is best when adding Frequencies to start with '00', which will avoid this problem.

2.  PROGRAM FREQUENCY DISPLAY BELOW 3 MHz

The AR-DV1 ALWAYS requires frequencies to be entered in MHz. Below 3 MHz however the Radio displays kHz. By default the Program shows ALL frequencies in MHz. NEW OPTION To display the kHz (in the primary [TOP] selected VFO display only)

3.  BAND SCOPE SWEEP TIME REDUCED  by > 30% - A very significant speed increase. If the increased speed appears to cause the Scope to 'miss' any signals, you can adjust the Sweep Speed

4.  ALTERNATIVE ENTERING OF  FREQUENCIES  [ALWAYS enter as MHz i.e. '1.835', not as kHz]

This ONLY apples when the Program is in either VFOA or VFOB modes, and no other Functions are active. Users can now also enter new Frequencies by typing them into the VFO Box on the Main screen, or as before using the Keypad.

5.  WEBSDR AND KIWI SELECTABLE AUTOMATION FUNCTIONS

NOTE  These NEW Functions ONLY work with the Microsoft EDGE Browser

All OPEN 'EDGE' windows are CLOSED when either Function below is selected.

You may close an SDR Browser window from the Program, and if desired close and automatically transfer the SDR Browser Frequency to eSPYonARD, with a single mouse click.

1. RIGHT CLICK the BAR beneath the Main Window VOLUME Slider

The SDR Browser is automatically closed, and the Program's volume UNMUTED.

The Frequency on the Program and DV1 remain unaltered.

2. RIGHT CLICK the BAR beneath the Main Window SQUELCH Slider

IF you have chosen a different Frequency to monitor in the SDR Browser,

AND  'SELECTED  and COPIED' the new Frequency displayed in the SDR then

the SDR Browser is automatically closed, the Program's volume UNMUTED

AND  the NEW Frequency is auto transferred to the Program and Radio.

As before, if you want to leave the Browser open, just click into a Program window to access it.

The Program auto-scrolls down any new SDR window that is opened  to view the 'waterfall' automatically.  This works for many SDR Browser windows, but not all due to their individual layouts.

Users do not have to manually CLOSE the SDR Browser window. Selecting a new SDR from the displayed list auto-closes the Browser and opens a new one.

6.  NEW FREQUENCY WINDOW IN SCOPE LIST

This shows the Frequency that will be sent to an SDR Browser window when one is selected. This is the currently selected Frequency.

7.  MISCELLANEOUS  'TWEAKS'

Due to more stable and improved firmware streamlined older code re. no longer needed 'checks'.

e.g. 'VFO RESET' time reduced by 75%, and several other time reductions.

v. (6.0007-022 - June 2020
The list of changes below does not do justice to the extensive code re-writes that are included.
I have re-visited all of my early coding. Bearing in mind the Program started construction many Firmware Updates ago, and I now have 4 more years experience with the Program and AR-DV1. There were instances that due to earlier Firmware I was forced to introduce certain 'checks and balances' that are no longer needed, so they could now be safely removed.

There are in consequence improvements to many Functions.

Here is a summary of what is also contained in the update.
1. 'NEW LIST' BUTTON IN SCOPE LIST

2. LAST SDR SITE SELECTED IN SCOPE LIST
The Program attempts to remember the last SDR item selected, and displays it 'highlighted'.

3. SCOPE 'Q' WINDOW
In previous versions only one highlighted item could be selected and removed from a 'Q' list.
Now you can hold down the keyboard 'Ctrl' key to highlight more than one item, and / or the SHIFT key to highlight a number of items.

4. REMOVED AUTO CENTERING RE, SCOPE 'Q' WINDOW

5. BANDSCOPE SWEEP 'PAUSE' ERROR
In the last Update I accidentally introduced an error during a Scope 'Sweep'. After a signal was found, the Sweep did not continue after the selected PAUSE period - FIXED.

6. SEARCH / SCAN AND SWITCHING BETWEEN FUNCTIONS NOW MORE RESPONSIVE
SEARCH or SCAN selection, and switching between various Functions are now more responsive.

7. HYPERLINKS FOR MANUAL
Added Hyperlinks to Command Index, Page 4. Clicking on an entry takes you to page.

8. ADDED 'IMPORT' BUTTON TO SCOPE FAST WINDOW
This will import Amateur Band Frequencies into the first 10 Scope Memories.

9. COUNTDOWN ON SCOPE START SCREEN
Visual 'fail safe' progress in case Band Scope Sweep does not start after 45 seconds.

Short Wave Reception SPECIAL

The Band Scope and 'Q' can now interact with Web Based SDR Sites all over the World so you are freed from your own Short Wave Aerial limitations and / or Location difficulties.

Pass Frequencies to and from the Program's Band Scope so you can monitor Short Wave signals globally, accessing Sites that use excellent Aerials in great locations.

Your AR-DV1 now has access to 'real time', fully tune-able SDR Waterfalls (below 30 MHz). Quickly switch between a Web SDR Site and your DV1 to compare reception.

Picking up a weak Short Wave Station on your DV1, no problem, with just a few mouse clicks listen to that Frequency via many different WEB installations.

Find a strong signal  using the WEB SDR Waterfall, couple of clicks and transfer the Frequency to your AR-DV1, and find out how it is receiving the signal.

(Internet Access is required for the above Functions)

Several other additions / modifications to the Program, including:-

1. INTERFACED TUNING KNOB 'UP 'DN'   ARROWS WITH THE BAND SCOPE
Users may now use the UP and DOWN buttons, either as a LEFT click - one step at a time, or RIGHT click - repeating, to manually move the Band Scope frequency as governed by the STEP selected.

2. 'Q' WINDOW
Now when a Frequency is added to the Scope's 'Q' List, that last entry is 'highlighted' for convenience, so you can instantly identify it.

3. BAND SCOPE MEMORIES - AMATEUR RADIO SHORT WAVE BANDS - AUTO INSERT
The Program Folder contains a sub folder :-
'HAM FREQ SCOPE MEMORIES'
Inside there is a file
'HamFreqSETTINGS.reg'
Double clicking this file will add Short Wave Amateur Radio Frequencies as the first 10 Band Scope  Memories, ready for immediate use.
Windows will display a warning regarding adding files to the Registry - select 'YES'.
This will OVERWRITE the first 10 Band Scope Memories you may have already saved.

I've been a scanner enthusiast for many, many years. I've had more scanners than I can count and, if available, I've had every software product for every scanner I've owned (sort of a radio control software junkie). I can say without any reservation, that eSPYonARD offers more bang for the buck than any other software I've owned.

The quality of the software is second only to the responsiveness of its author.

Truly, truly impressed. No financial association, just a very satisfied paying customer.

I believe there has never been a scanner/receiver based control program that came or comes close to having the functionality available in eSPYonARD.

Just a few words about 'Q'. So many extra functions that are amazing for their simplicity to use, amazing in the versatility and complex nature of what they do, and amazing Scanner owners ever managed without them.

I have never before seen anything like 'Q' in any program, or even imagined I would. Its abilities are simply awesome.  It is worth buying an AR-DV1 just to have the power of 'Q' at your fingertips, and that says it all.

I have been following your development of your program and decided to purchase it tonight. I can't wait to try it with full activation. One thing I wanted to mention to you is that I use the DV1 for SIGNIT and Interference Hunting. Using the trial version I have been very successful in tracking down anything and everything. If it were not for the expanded capabilities of your software, I would not have been as effective. To anyone out there that has a AOR ARDV-1, this is the best and ONLY program to use.

Thanks again for all you have done with the DV1. I can't wait to try the new features.

BILL (USA) Mar 2019

I downloaded your eSPYonARD software and ran the free trial. It took about five minutes to realize it was a no-brainer that I wanted/needed this program to take full advantage of the capabilities of my AR-DV1 receiver! I sent payment via PayPal, and received my activation key promptly and I appreciated that! There's nothing worse than being excited to try new software on a new radio and having to wait several days to get things going. This software is so loaded with features and control that a good read of the manual is going to make it even more enjoyable and usable. You've done an excellent job and I really appreciate all your hard work that has gone into this.

I highly recommend this to anyone with an AR-DV1 digital receiver!

WOW is my first and every impression I get while using this software...It has totally made my dv1 come alive ..I have it based in my bed room linked to antenna in attic...And by using a usb over ip device.. I am controlling all.aspexts of my dv1 and much more because of this software...Can't say thanks enough .got to admit at first I was sceptical if this software would be better than what I was alreasy using.. tell you this..only software I use now is this one from Jeff.. thanks alot buddy...

Peter R Dec 2018

Hadn't realised before just what 'Q' can do with the eSPYonARD software. I wanted to pause the AR-DV1 when I found an interesting frequency. So I asked Jeff at Marlbrook if this was possible. Better than 24/7 service - within hours he had replied! Q can already achieve this - right click on VFO-A and a window pops up with the frequency listed. This makes the radio so much more useful for me as I can add to that list and then review it later. eSPYonARD was a very good control program before 'Q', but now takes to a new level. Only the AR-DV1 can do it because 'Q', adds extended capabilities for Memory/Frequency management and acquisition. Thank you!

John B  Jan 2018

Can't recommend this program enough, being using it since V.5.015 and now running version v.6.0002F. It just makes programming the radio so simple

Mike (UK) Oct 2017

Having tried this version of eSPYonARD and located in the UK I am IMPRESSED !!

The Ofcom** Wireless Telegraphy Register database listing has been adapted and improved to run seamlessly with the Q database function.

When loaded the entries are in frequency order - like so:
0446.15000 STOREFAST LIMITED [TQ6224073428] Northfleet Kent da118hn AUTO
0446.16250 ODEON LIMITED [TA0940028300] Kingston upon Hull Kingston upon Hull hu12sa AUTO

You will notice that the User Name, NGR and Mode is in upper case, the location is in mixed case and the location Postcode (ZIP) is in lower case.

This is useful as you can specify in a search for either a Name = SLOUGH, or a location = Slough. Or you can combine the two (separated by a (,) "SLOUGH,Slough"

You can of course search by frequency or part of a full frequency.

The results of your search are displayed on screen and can be saved as your own frequency database files which can be recalled and edited as required.

An AUTO entry tells the AR-DV1 to receive in AUTO Mode.

The entry in brackets is the Postcode (ZIP) of the radio site, If an entry line is double clicked on and accept the option to go to a map of the location, eSPYonARD opens Google Maps in your browser and displays the location on a Google Map style map, which can be zoomed in and out from.

Also of course by double clicking the entry tunes the AR-DV1 to the entry frequency..

My thoughts - AMAZING, it takes eSPYonARD to another level once again and makes Ofcom's cumbersome WTR database file a seamless addition to eSPYonARD' Q-DB function.

Since I first purchased eSPYonARD a host of functions have been added but to me this beats nearly all of them and a first for AR-DV1 users.

**Ofcom** is the UK's communications regulator like the FCC in the USA.

As the program uses Postcode (ZIP) information, can search individual entries for other location details even without those and uses Google Maps to view it - it can be compatible with non UK listings for other Countries, and by modifying new or existing Q files.

I like to use it normally, because is similar to the Receiver himself. I own "Radio Scanner" for Win 10 too. Still prefer Jeffs Software

JS (USA)  Feb 2018

The addition of the band scope his elevated the usefulness of the DV1 to a level I didnt think possible. Additionally, given the constraints of USB communication, you’ve done an incredible job regarding the sweep speed.

RW (USA) Feb 2018

I'm really having fun with this band scope!  It works very well, considering it's being done entirely through software.
This functionality is amazing, and the interface with Q only makes it that much better.

Fantastic Program, A Must If You Have A AOR DV-1

Malc W Nov 2018

Well the author has been working very hard with me to help with a suggestion i made about adding memories to the radio in bulk (one bank at a time). I must say i am pleased i bought this software because as i have seen in the testing of this new feature that eSPYonARD is quickly becoming a Swiss Army Knife type of program whereby every user type is catered for. You will always get first class support from the author as well as i have. I think personally that this software is leaps and bounds above the rest especially when you have to boot, an author who is willing to, and if possible will act on your suggestions within a day or two

DD Aug 2019

You continue to develop more and more functionality and wonderful features to this receiver. I sincerely thank you for all your tireless efforts, blood, sweat, and tears

Florisand USA Jul 2020

I use your program every day. There is nothing like it out there and the fact that you are constantly tweaking it to make it better is great! Thanks

The best support for a purchased radio control program, bar none

JF (FRANCE)  Feb 2018

I find that Band Scope is a major evolution. This greatly simplifies the search for emissions in a band. Thank you for your precision

AORFAN (USA) Mar 2019

I purchased the software recently, you won't be disappointed. A read of the manual is a must.

JL USA October 2019

Q is really nice.  That's what I like about your program.  As I mentioned before, I tried for quite a while to confuse it (as a personal challenge).  Arabic freq list was the only thing to make it could not handle. It would take a super long time to set up "systems", etc in my SDS200.  Espy and DV1 and Q, copy/paste/sort/scan in about 5 seconds.

John M USA  Aug 2019

Thanks sir for continuing to provide regular updates and support. Best DV1 software by far!

CI Mar 2019

I've had the program for a few days and also the DV1. Neat program. The "Q" function has some pretty good text file cleanup and smarts to it (I used to be a programmer and the text algorithms obviously have some thought behind them).

I consider Q the power of this program. It's not as "sexy" as a direct import from radio reference, but the added power of copying and pasting lists from any source to a text file really versatile

JAY (USA) Mar 2019

I think it’s important that I tell all who read this that, as a beta tester, and one who has had the pleasure to be associated with the Program's author, that he has considered every option, advice, and suggestion I gave him. He explained why some things were not possible but, more importantly, was just as quick to tell me I was right. He is honest and his intelligence cannot be contested. I know for a fact that he spent more hours and sacrificed more of his personal time to produce eSPYonARD then any customer could appreciate.
Thank you, not just for your ground-breaking software, but for your confidence in me.

Radiosutch  (USA) Jun 2017

This is a good program. I initially thought Butel was better and bought it. However over the past few months I grew to hate its clunky and slow system. I had previously had the trial version of eSPYonARD and the Pro Lite version.  I went back to that and ended up buying the full Pro version from Jeff. I think it has a more modern feel to it and has not crashed the DV1 unlike Butel.  I haven't used every single function, as I just want to search and scan a set of known frequencies. Now, if I had a similar program to run my 8600 that would be the icing on the cake.

Well done to Jeff  Well worth the dosh and recommended if you have a DV1

Peter S Sep 2018

Despite only seeing this software for the first time yesterday, I decided to try out the Q-DB function to see if it was as good as was claimed. It wasn't just good, it was brilliant! I chose to load a sequence of over 200 airband frequencies in order to stretch it! They were copied, pasted into the correct directory and scanning in less than 2 minutes. I was very impressed and I've no doubt that the deeper I delve into the software, the more gems I will find.

Roger P Norway  Jan 2020

You are the best👍 and Your SW is the best for DV1 when it comes to explore and search for unknown frequencies.

Gordon W  Dec 2018

Jeff, that is just an outrageous amount of work you’ve put into this... labour of love indeed!

D USA  Sep 2019

For anyone out there that has a DV1, you need to invest in this fantastic program. You will not be disappointed. It's worth the full price three times over! And you could never get the support you get using this program. The thousands of hours, that has gone into the continued development of this program to make it better than AOR ever could have imagined. My DV1 is the most productive radio I have with my over 20 radios

UPDATED D USA Mar 2020

Once again you have improved and made use of this superior program better. I use the bandscope feature a lot for real-world interference hunting. Thanks again for all your tireless work on this program. AOR should thank you to keep the DV1 alive and well.

JOHN K  Mar 2017

If anyone has any doubts about the claims made for the new 'Q' additions, forget them. They are certainly not overstated. 'Q' expands the usability of my AR-DV1 receiver drastically! At home, 'Q' enables monitoring a single frequency unguarded, and records and logs any activity. Also it makes it possible to record - with logging data - a memory- or search bank. 'Q' also gives the receiver almost unlimited, instantly accessible memories, all with no typing involved, or uploading information to the AR-DV1. The great beauty of the software comes in handy when searching! With 'Q', during a search exactly one single mouse click is enough to store the information and frequency into a seperate file and sorts it. Double entries are prevented so no cluttering exists. When roaming at the shortwave bands this is extremely valuable! Just as handy is the 'pass' option to skip a specific frequency during these searches. It makes pen and paper redundant when searching. On screen the lists are fully interactive. Just click on a line, and the frequency is there on the AR-DV1, and also with a mouse click you can delete any line, or all of them, in addition to other useful things. But then when you want to go mobile or visit another location another option shows it value. No need to save all information and program the frequencies from the visited location.  Just put the required information such as frequencies directly from websites into the program and the program controls the receiver in scanning etc. Imagine going to visit Schiphol Airport. Look up the most recent frequencies, cut and paste them into the program and voila, ready for action! After returning home no need to restore the 'base-data' back to the receiver but just reconnect it and you're ready to go! These functionalities comes with the paid version only but I just won't be using the receiver without it! This program gives the receiver a very well engineered computer control capability but it expands the ease to learn, monitor, explore and change frequencies on the fly with just a couple of mouse clicks. I think AOR should supply this wonderful software with every unit they sell, it's that good! The AR-DV1 is a very good receiver as it stands, but with eSPYonARD and 'Q' it is amazing.

RS Mar 2021

It is really amazing, what espyonARD Can do, managing the AOR DV1!
For example, the 'Q' function that can read and convert files into text files usable in 'Q-DB and you can work them out in a Text Editor .
'Q-DB' can use almost any number of created 'Q' files, with no limit of size, Additionally to see all the options there are in 'Q-DB', for example: filtering, default Mode selection if no Mode was contained in the original file it created, scanning and much more.
In my opinion, it is strongly recommended and helpful to watch the videos from Jeffrey Ashby on YouTube
Thanks to Jeffrey for programming such a Fine tool

DAN Mar 2021

Outstanding job once again.  I wish AOR would realise what an asset you are to them and that you are the one that keeps the DV1 alive,

Thank you again for all your tireless efforts and dedication.  I know that there are many of us out there who greatly appreciate you.
